We could not have done it without you! The 2007-2008 Annual Fund raised a record $5.8 million from 8,536 members of the Hamilton alumni family. It is a remarkable statement of loyalty that 52.2 percent of the Hamilton alumni body participated. 

As you know, alumni participation is an important measure of the strength of the College, and this successful campaign represents the 27th consecutive year that over 50% of all alumni made a gift to Hamilton. Continuous support of Hamilton by its loyal alumni is the foundation of the Annual Fund and is the anchor that secures the financial future of the College for generations to come. 

The power of collective giving was manifestly evident from all alumni segments. Some statistics behind the 2007-08 Annual Fund help tell the story of the collective value you created.

  • Leadership donors, those who contribute a $1,000 or more, grew in number by nearly 8% in spite of the current difficult economic climate. 
  • Ten percent more GOLD donors from the classes of 1998 – 2007 contributed this year than last year.
  • More than 1,400 parents contributed over $550,000 to the unrestricted Parents' Fund.
  • Aumni in reunion years made nearly $1.2 million in unrestricted gifts and expanded their participant ranks by 148 individuals when compared to 2006-07.
  • More than half of all donors increased their gift amount.
  • Online donations grew by an amazing 63 percent.
  • We are thrilled that of our newest alumni, the Class of 2008, 95.9 percent participated in their Senior Gift.

Clearly, this broadly based generosity is emblematic of our Hamilton community. It is who we are. Alumni, parents, and friends who give to Hamilton know that their contributions will be spent with care, and that their gifts will help not only Hamilton but the nation and the world by educating future leaders, creating new knowledge that influences the directions of disciplines, and setting new standards in higher education.

As the Annual Fund Chairman, I know how much you do for Hamilton. Your personal contacts with your classmates bind your class together and draw them closer to the College. And all your hard work enabled us to beat last year's records. Thank you for being willing to invest in the futures of the exceptional young men and women matriculating on the Hill, so that they too might join the ranks of what is a truly amazing community of Hamilton alumni.
