Lisa Trivedi, 2010 Faculty Director



Associate Professor of History, Lisa Trivedi of Hamilton College will direct the the fall 2010. Trivedi is a historian of modern India, who has published Clothing Gandhi's Nation: Homespun and Modern India (2007), a cultural study of Indian nationalism and its material culture. She is currently working on a comparative history of women textile workers in Bombay and Lancashire, England. Her scholarly interests include the histories of colonialism, nationalism, and women in India. The 2010 program will emphasize the historical roots of many contemporary issues in India, including caste, communalism, and gender disparities. She previously directed the program in the fall 2007.
