It is our pleasure to announce the 10th Anniversary of the Associated Colleges in China (ACC). Over the past decade ACC has been able to accomplish great things. Our program has matured and continues to lead the field in Chinese Language education. Today, ACC enjoys increasing interest from students across the country, and since its start in 1996, has close to 1,000 graduates.
In order to commemorate these accomplishments ACC will be holding a 10th Anniversary Celebration on July 14, 2006. Festivities will be held at ACC’s host institution, Capital University of Economics and Business, in Beijing. In addition to celebrating the accomplishments achieved by ACC and our past students, this event will provide a wonderful opportunity to catch up with former classmates and teachers. Although a formal schedule has not yet been completed, a tentative list of the day’s activities includes:
12:00-1:30 Lunch with ACC Faculty and Students
1:30-2:30 Reunion Celebration
- Remarks by Hamilton College's President Stewart
- Report by Hong Gang Jin
- ACC Alumni presentation
- Report by ACC faculty
- ACC student presentation
2:30-3:30 Panel discussion: Chinese and Future Career Paths
3:30-4:30 Round table discussion
4:30-5:30 Campus visit, activities with students (Game/tour/concert/TBD)
5:30-7:30 ACC reunion banquet (potentially followed by student concert)
Other Information:
- ACC would be happy to cover lodging expenses for Alumni if they choose to stay in the ACC dorm on the nights of July 13th and 14th. Those joining them will be asked to pay 116/133 yuan per night.
- If guests do not want to stay in the dorms, we can help arrange other accommodations with hotels in the area. Potential hotels include: The Winterless Hotel (No. 1 West Dawang Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing--Phone:86-10-65812288) China World Hotel (No. Jianguomenwai Avenue, Chaoyang District, Beijing--Phone: 86-10-6505-2266) The Kerry Center Hotel (No.1 Guanghua Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing-- Phone:86-10-6561-8833) Jianguo Hotel (5 Jianguomenwai Avenue, Chaoyang District, Beijing--Phone: 86-10-6500-2233) All of these hotels are in fairly close proximity to CUEB. The rates vary from one hotel to the other, and also depend on available rooms.
- The reunion will be also be a chance for Hamilton alums, or ACC alums in general, to discuss any questions or comments they have about the program with President Stewart.
- In addition to students, ACC faculty will also be present. These individuals include, Hong Gang Jin and Ying Zhang, both of whom have contributed to this program since its conception in 1996.
- Alumni participants will have the opportunity to discuss their experiences after ACC with current students in a variety of setting, both formal and informal. There are currently approximately 20 ACC alumni planning to attend the event. Topics for discussion include: Graduate study in Chinese, Business Start-up in China, and the Foreign Service.
- Photo and informational reports will be presented regarding ACC's accomplishments and development over the past decade into one of the country's leading Chinese language programs.
- All events will take place on July 14, 2006 at the Capital University of Economics and Business.
- Those planning on traveling from the US (or any other country) in order to attend this event should keep in mind that they are responsible for acquiring their own visa papers, and should plan accordingly.
- This is a reunion intended to celebrate the achievements of the program in addition to those of the individuals who have participated over the past ten years. It is our hope that this event not only provides a reason to reunite with former teachers and classmates, but also encourages communication and the forming of relationships between ACC students and alumni.
