Exploring Rural Education in ChinaACC Field Studies ProgramThis video offers a glimpse of 12 motivated students on their recent trip to China. Showcasing their Chinese language skills, these students from the ACC's unique Field Studies Program complete their exploration of education in rural China. They converse with teachers, interact with children, and share their life experiences with captivated Chinese audiences. Read what these students have to say about their experience: "It's total immersion. You get used to speaking, talking, and listening in just Chinese … I can't imagine a better way to do it." Aaron Balivet, Hamilton College "It is not a traditional study abroad experience. You get to see places in China you won't see through any other program." Paul Pokrandt, University of Colorado Lillian Sie Mount Holyoke College "This program is perfect for American college students who want to learn more about China." Grace Park, Bowdoin College It is not about touring historic sites of taking pictures; nor is it about aimless excursions to inner China for esoteric sightings … This is a structured field studies program that offers an experience one can never forget. From day one, you live and speak as an average Chinese person does, immersed in Chinese culture and society, and in particular, gaining valuable knowledge about Chinese education and rural schools. A journey of a lifetime begins as you become part of Chinese society. From urban skylines to stretches of vast open spaces, China is unlike anything you have ever experienced.
