General Information

The HCAYS issues bulletins after acceptance regarding necessary health and accident insurance coverage, passports, visas, housing in Madrid, travel, etc., during the months preceding departure for Spain.

Information concerning medical arrangements will be available for members of the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain. These will cover clinical and diagnostic emergency treatment, minor medical aid, and referrals to specialists in case of serious illness. Medical facilities in Madrid are good and comparatively inexpensive. We strongly advise that all necessary dental work be done prior to leaving the United States. When necessary, students should have an extra pair of glasses with them and a sufficient quantity of special medicines required, as well as any pertinent prescriptions.

You should note that prices in Spain are, for most items, higher than is generally assumed.
Accident and health insurance is required of all students. All members of the group must submit prior evidence of possessing insurance that will cover them in Europe. Details concerning available plans and other information are made available in pre-departure bulletins.
