Admission and Fees (2009-10)
Students must have an overall average of B and have completed at least one college course above the intermediate level with a B- average. Applications for one-semester enrollment are accepted under special conditions ONLY (i.e.: science majors: please contact the office directly). 2. Deadlines for 2009-10 Deadline for application is February 23, but students are encouraged to apply as soon as they have discussed their plans with their family and advisors. Applications are reviewed as soon as they are received.Responses are usually sent out within two to three weeks they are received. 3. Expenses (see paiment schedule below) The fee for the 2008-09 Hamilton Junior Year in France academic year was $39,950. The fee for the 2009-10 academic year will be announced in the acceptance letter. The annual fee covers the following: Note1: Students who choose to travel independently must make their own arrangements to and from Paris and Biarritz, pay for their ticket, and inform the HCJYF before May 1. Students will receive credit toward their account. The annual fee does not include the following: Personal expenses; insurance; textbooks and study material; passport and visa; cost for baggage in excess of amount allowed by airline; laundry and dry cleaning; Paris transportation (the program assists students in obtaining a year long Paris transportation card at a low cost); fees for sports activities; trips not organized by the Junior Year in France; lunches and one dinner a week; board during winter and spring vacations. Personal expenses: Books and supplies: about 1,000$ for the year Lunches and other expenses: 600+$ a month (this does not include travel outside of the Paris area). 4. Payment Schedule Application fee (non-refundable, applicable to HCYJF tuition fee) $ 40 Note that many colleges have cooperative arrangements that transfer fellowships and financial aid from the home institution to the Hamilton College Junior Year in France. In addition, most educational loan arrangements will apply to our study abroad program. For further details, please inquire of the financial aid office at your college or university, or call Ms. Gena Hasburgh at the Hamilton College Junior Year in France. The program's policy on refunding payments to students who withdraw voluntarily or due to illness, or who are dismissed at any time during the year, is as follows: |
