Hamilton College Alumni Association and Alumni Council

Hamilton's approximately 18,000 person alumni body is a critical source of strength for the College. The Alumni Association  promotes and fosters the best interests of Hamilton College and seeks to strengthen relationships of all alumni with one another and with the College.

The ways to stay engaged are legion. I encourage and welcome your participation. The strength of the Hamilton College Alumni Association is directly related to the level of participation of our alumni.

Carissima,
Mark Rice '73
President, Alumni Association and Chair, Alumni Council

Mission of the Alumni Council

To support the key needs of the College and its alumni by mobilizing the talent, expertise, time and financial resources of all alumni.  To do this, the Council will (1) Lead all alumni volunteer groups in meeting the needs of the College and its alumni; (2) Provide the link between all alumni and all constituencies of the College; (3) Identify, recruit, and inspire alumni and prospective alumni to work in support of the College and each other, and provide recognition for those who do (Alumni Recognition ); and (4) Foster a spirit of loyalty and fellowship among alumni.

Alumni Council Committees

The Council is comprised of the following constituencies: the Executive Committee, the class presidents and class agents who make up the Class Leadership Committee, members of the Multicultural Alumni Relations executive committee, any member of the Ad Hoc Committee on HOLAC and members of the Nominations Committee. There are approximately 230 members of Hamilton's Alumni Council making it the most statistically representative alumni body in NESCAC. The Alumni Council meets on campus twice a year; on the Saturday of Fallcoming and the Saturday of Volunteer Weekend.

  • Committee on Multicultural Alumni Relations (MARC) is comprised of a thirteen member executive committee, the subcommittee on Alumni/Student Relations and the subcommittee on Multicultural Regional Events and four ex officio members of the administration and faculty. Their mission is to bring alumni of color into active volunteer leadership roles in the Hamilton College Alumni Association which will, in turn, promote cross-cultural awareness and increased understanding of our alumni of color within the Association and the greater Hamilton community.
  • The Regional Affairs Committee is comprised of the Chair, Regional Alumni Association presidents and the regional GOLD chairs. Their mission is to engender life long affiliation of alumni with the College. Since the life of the mind connects alumni to the College's tradition of academic excellence, staging events that present opportunities for alumni education is their central task. Your regional association also seeks to provide alumni with social, arts, community service and strategic events intended to "bring the College to alumni" and, by doing so; advance the goals of the College. REGIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY
  • The Class Leadership Committee is comprised of all Class Presidents and all Class Agents. The committee discusses class issues and deploys solutions to further class affiliation, disseminates information about the College and the class and supports the success of their respective class's Annual Fund. In the spring of every fourth year, the members oversee Reunion planning for their classes' five year Reunion cycle.
  • The Nominations Committee is comprised of the Chair and twelve committee members. The committee identifies and recognizes alumni leaders and potential leaders, and alumni with special areas of expertise and recruits alumni for service on the Council
  • The Committee for GOLD Group Engagement was formed by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Council in the spring of 2007.  Comprised of current members of the Class Leadership Committee and MARC, as well as engaged volunteers from the GOLD Group, the Committee is charged with securing and increasing the involvement of the GOLD Group through volunteering, unrestricted giving, participation in regional and on-campus events and enhanced social and career networking.
