Twenty-three years ago, Susan Hartman, reporting for The New York Times, profiled a group of talented jumpers on her troubled Brooklyn block. For the past three years, she has been working on a multi-media project, documenting the amazing young women they’ve become. Six award winning photographers and filmmakers have contributed. Hartman will present the ongoing project—including two short videos—followed by Q and A with the young women.
Susan Hartman, Kirkland ’74, has written for The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, and Newsday, often following her subjects for months. She is the author of two books of poetry, Dumb Show and El Abogado, and a chapbook, Satyr. She teaches journalism at New York University, and is also on the faculty of the International Center of Photography (ICP).
