Kirkland Mentoring

In October 2009, during Fallcoming lunch in Commons dining hall, members of the Kirkland Mentoring Group introduced themselves to Hamilton students.  They spent the next couple of hours listening to students—finding out what they were interested in, and how they might be able to help.

There are now a dozen Kirkland mentors, including a professional mentor who helps young artists develop careers, and a lawyer, who's an expert in Indian affairs. These mentors are happy to help students with resumes, and also help them apply to graduate schools, find internships, and connect with prospective employers.  But they are also glad to relate in fun ways: Recently mentors and students have swapped e-mails about Paris, and chatted over rice and beans in Manhattan.
