Archive/Purging - How long is the calendar data kept?

There are no defined limits

Archive/Purging - Can I purge my calendar data by dates/criteria?

This will work only if you are synchronizing with Outlook and use the tools in that application to archive or delete old events and then sychronize from Outlook.

General Use - Can I automatically populate holidays?

Yes.  Other calendars-->Add-->Add a public calendar

You can even add the weather forecast to your calendar.

General Use - Are there drag and drop capabilities?

Yes.  For example, to change the date/time of an appointment, you can drag it from the current date/time to a new date time.

Yes. Other calendars-->Add-->Add a public calendar.

General Use - Can I move an appointment from one person's calendar to another?

Yes. The share permission settings need to be Make Changes AND Manage Sharing in order for you to quickly and easily move appointments from one calendar to another, otherwise you can change ownership.
  1. Single click on appointment and Edit event details or Double click on appointment.
  2. Next to calendar, select the new calendar (will only show "My Calendars").

Not really.  You can create different calendars and choose to display one or more at the same time.

Yes. We don't know if this will be supported in new version of SiteManager.

Yes.  When making an appointment, under When, click on Check guest and resource availability.

Yes. Create event-->Add guests-->Choose from contacts.

General Use - Do I have control over color schemes?

Yes. You can color code by different calendars, you cannot color-code discrete events on a single calendar though.

General Use - Does the calendar include a to-do or task list?

No, but Gmail has a tasks feature in Google Labs which can be enabled in your Gmail account which integrates in different ways with your email.  There does not appear to be any integration with the Calendar integration.

General Use - Can I get reminded of meetings?

Yes. Both e-mail and popup reminders (mutliple, e.g. one week before and on hour before) are available.

The person can send you an invitation e-mail.

General Use - Can I control access to my calendar?

Yes.  You can control who sees your calendar, the level of information (e.g. full details vs. busy), and who can make changes to your calendar.

General Use - Can I create a group of calendars?

Sort of.  You can create as many calendars as you like.  To display one or more, you simply click on each calendar.  See Google's on-line help for more information.

Yes.  Public ones, or calendars that someone "shares" with you.

Printing - Will the calendar print all on one page?

Yes. You can print your calendar in day, week, month, or agenda (list) view.

Yes.  Choose Agenda view.

Printing - Can location and description information be printed?

Yes/No. Either day, week, or agenda view will show location information.  Description information does not appear to print.

Sychronization/Integration - Can I add a new appointment remotely?

Yes. Tested and works just like access G-cal directly.  See Google's on-line help for additional information.

Sychronization/Integration - Can I add an event from the campus calendar?

You cannot add an event directly from the events calendar to your Google calendar at this time. 

Using the export feature from Communications Express you can export a range of dates but not individual events.  Also, if someone uses their Sun calendar to invite your geval account to an event in the email invitation sent out if you accept the invitation Gmail will add the event to your Google Calendar.

Sychronization/Integration - Can I add text message notification?

Yes. Go to the Calendar settings and then the Mobile Setup.  You can add the mobile phone number you would like to have notifications sent to.  You will need to go through a verification process, which takes 30 seconds to set up.  The only exceptions are you can only have one mobile phone set up and currently prepaid wireless plans are not supported.

Sychronization/Integration - Can I synch my Palm or other PDA with this calendar?

Yes and No. Google does not have support for synching directly to Palm OS.  You can auto synch with Windows Mobile devices, iPhones and Blackberry's

Sychronization/Integration - Can I synch with Outlook?

Using the Google Calendar Sync application you can sync either: one way from Google to Outlook; one way from Outlook to Google; or two-way between both so changes made on either calendar stay synced on both.

Sychronization/Integration - Do events synch correctly, e.g. private vs. public, recurring events?

Yes and No.  All events sync but they will not be noted as private vs public.

Sychronization/Integration - What other clients synch with Google calendar?

Google Calendar can use the CalDAV / WebDAV protocol to Sync with Apple iCal (10.5 or greater only) and Mozilla Sunbird. You can also synch with Outlook
