2. Report from NESCAC meeting: We weren’t able to get to the NESCAC meeting due to lack of transportation. Agenda talked about NCAA scholarship information, SAAC updates from schools, recruiting guidelines, Sportsmanship day (March 1, 2005), future meetings (February 13, 2005).
3. Sub-Committee Reports - anything new? - Spirit: Have a themed dinner in Commons, Spirit dinner with video clips shown through dinner. - Sportsmanship: Citrus Bowl (see notes below). - Community Service: Toys for Tots (keep an eye out for information) - Academic: talked to teams about possible academic issues, look ahead for scheduling conflicts with games and talk to professors about it.
4. Toys for Tots - heads up: We’ll be doing it, trying to work out logistics right now.
5. Winter Events of the Season: - Swimming and Diving – Saturday November 20th - Other reps, talk to teams, know dates for the next meeting.
6. Citrus Bowl- Gus K, Sportsmanship & Spirit committees: The hockey team does not want to see the spirit of the tradition die and lose the fan support that they get for the game. The Sportsmanship committee may want to try to get something together with Student Assembly. What if we threw Nerf balls or orange ping pong balls? Chris Dunn will contact student assembly to see if they have any ideas.
7. NCAA Legislation – Phase 2 of the Division III reform movement. Right now, it’s a lot of discussion between focus groups, ADs, etc, and there isn’t too much legislation being passed. New proposals: Exempting alumni contests in the non-traditional season and permitting the use of a football in a five week out of season period. These proposals don’t affect Hamilton, as we do not have non traditional seasons.
8. Congratulations to both Women’s and Men’s soccer teams for making it to NCAAs!
