2. NESCAC meeting update
- Sportsmanship Day (March 1st) – ideas for SAACs to follow up on…
- Representatives could go to elementary schools and host workshops with the children about sportsmanship.
- Have captains talk to their teams about proper sportsmanship
- Vote for the most sportsmanlike player on each team
- Prospective Students
- Large concern that most prospectives are underage and are involved in activities on their visits that are not appropriate for their ages. We want prospectives to be (feel) as responsible for their own actions as hosts, coaches, and administrators are. The NESCAC reps came up with a statement reminding recruits to be smart and act according to their age.
Ideas:
- Contact Card for the Prospective: would have numbers of campus safety, coaches, hosts, places to go if they get lost, etc. Might also contain a list of contacts of the student, in case something happens and parents/guardians need to be contacted.
- Meeting with coaches to see how they match prospectives with hosts.
- Wesleyan has prospectives sign waiver when they come in, reminding them that they are responsible for their own actions, which are a reflection of them and their character.

3. Recommendations to our coaches for future Prospectives (a complete and formal list will be compiled and circulated shortly, but this is the start).
- Try to have prospectives come on weekends over weekdays. There are more activities to choose from, and hosts don’t end up dragging their prospective to the library.
- Even out the number of recruits for each player.
- Make an approved list of activities on campus for prospectives to choose from.
- Make a list of classes that are available at certain times so that the prospective can choose a class that they are interested in attending.
- Contact Card: same as the idea from the NESCAC meeting. However, we also like this idea because it could be used if the student wants to get in touch with their host or coach later on down the road in the admissions process.

4. Sub Committee plans
- Academic – Currently working on the Scholar-Athlete Luncheon
- Spirit – Will plan a Spirit day on a big sports weekend in the Spring
- Sportsmanship – Sportsmanship day is March 1st. Looking into workshops in elementary schools, making t-shirts with positive slogans for fans, and talking to captains about proper sportsmanship.
- Community Service – AIDS Hike at the end of April, details to follow.
- Tsunami Relief – Women’s Softball is collecting donations when they sell concessions at Mens’ Basketball games. Both Men and Women’s Lacrosse teams are doing a Goal-A-Thon for Tsunami Relief. Please spread the word and contact the Lacrosse coaches if you want to get pledge.

5. Diversity Leadership Conference – February 26th and 27th. Contact Coaches if you are interested in attending.

6. Next Meeting: March 7, 2005.
