Volleyball Rule


Rules apply to the beach volleyball.

General:

  • 6x6 on the court
  • 2 Winter Seasons
  • Abridged season: Play 1 league/championship until winter break
  • After winter break, see if can break up into 2 leagues

Forfeiting

  • Team that forfeits receives loss
  • Teams can play with four players
  • First forfeit results in a warning
  • Third forfeit results in inability to make playoffs
  • Fourth forfeit results in removal from league

 

Result Reporting

  • The captain of the winning team is required to submit an email which includes names of both teams and the score to the imvb@hamilton.edu before 10:00pm the next day after the game. Failure to report a score will result in a loss for both teams. 
  • Notify through email if opposing team forfeits

Roster:

  • 15 players on the roster
  • 2 girls on the court at all times
  • No more than 1 varsity player on the court one time; No more than 2 varsity players on the roster.



Game Rules:

  • Coin-toss for 1st serve
  • Blocks count as a hit
  • No double-hitting during play
  • Proper setting, no lifting
  • No switching until ball is served
  • Underhand serve is acceptable
  • No blocking the serve: must volley
  • Serves touching the net are acceptable as long as they go over
  • No jumping on bleachers to get to the ball

Scoring: 

  • Ceiling count as a point for the opposing team
  • When in doubt, follow collegiate volleyball rules

Rally Scoring:

  • Side-offs count as a point

Play to 21, Best 2 out of 3
Alumni gym: 2 games going on at the same time

Lisa has served as the US Air Force and Air National Guard Physical Training Leader for 6 years, as well as 20 plus years of Personal Training and Fitness Instructor experience. She offers training programs that are result oriented for the new fitness enthusiast as well as the serious athlete desiring to take their game to the next level.
