Resources

Resume Guide

The Resume Guide is intended to help you construct the first draft of your resume. The sample resumes illustrate some of the different ways information can be presented to an employer.

Workshops

Attend a resume workshop and learn tips to help you craft a document that is sure to get you noticed! Regularly scheduled workshops are held in the Career Center throughout the semester. More info can be found in our calendar on HamNET.

Resume Builder

The Career Center recently made a transition from OptimalResume to the Resume Builder module within HamNET.  Resume Builder gives students an easy way to create resumes from scratch. You can create custom resumes and cover letters with a step-by-step interface that enables you to add and move around section headers; check spelling; change fonts, text size and alignment; and update margins. You may save completed documents as PDF, MS Word, and/or generate web URL for business cards. Resumes and cover letters are automatically stored in the system, which makes it easier to apply for jobs via HamNET.

Access Resume Builder by logging into HamNET and clicking on "Resume Builder" on the right. Note: if you have documents stored on OptimalResume that you would like to remove, please do so by October 1, 2011 when the Hamilton OptimalResume site will be taken down.

Peer Counselors

Our Peer Counselors (PCs) are students like you who have been trained to critique cover letters and resumes. Whether you have never written a resume or you desire a proof-reading of your final draft, PCs are available during both day and evening hours to meet with you one-on-one. Simply call the Career Center at 315-859-4346 or stop by to schedule an appointment.
