Post-BA Service Opportunities

Programs below offer a minimum three-month experience. Though most voluntary service programs require a fee to cover administrative and travel costs, they typically offer some type of compensation (i.e., stipend, room and/or board, health insurance).

International

American Jewish World Service 6-9 month direct service fellowship focusing on international justice issues with a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Africa, Asia or the Americas.
Azafady: 10-week internship w/ NGO in Madagascar tackling poverty through income-generating activities and by giving access to sanitation, clean drinking water and basic healthcare.
Foundation for Sustainable Development: 8-52 week internships with one of 160 different non-governmental organization (NGO) in Latin America, East Africa, or India to support sustainable development projects.
Fourth World Movement: 3-month internship in either Appalachia, New York, Washington, DC, or New Orleans, followed by (optional) 24-month service in impoverished communities abroad.
Habitat for Humanity - International Volunteer Program: construction or special projects in Africa and Central/South America lasting 3 -24 mos.
Global Service Corps: short and long-term projects in Thailand (health care and education) and in Tanzania (health, HIV/AIDS prevention education, and sustainable agriculture).
Institute for International Cooperation and Development: 6-20 mos. development and community work with projects in Africa and Brazil.
Jesuit Volunteer International: 24-month program supporting service agencies and schools in meeting basic needs of food, housing and education.
Notre Dame Mission Volunteers International Program: 12-month programs serving disadvantaged children and families in Peru (education) and Kenya (health)
Peace Corps: 27-month program in 7 regions of the world addressing needs in education, health and HIV/AIDS, business, information technology, agriculture, and the environment.
Right To Play: 12-month opportunity to use sports to enhance holistic child development and builds stronger communities in 22 developing countries.
SCI International Voluntary Service: 3-12 month service opportunities in over 50 countries.
Visions in Action: 6 or 12-month international development program in Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, and Mexico.
VIA (Volunteer in Asia): 12 -24-month English teaching and English resource positions (in local NGO's) in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, and Mayanmar.
Voluntarios de la Esperanza: 3-12 month program working with children in Chilean orphanages and other institutions.
Witness for Peace: 24-month programs based in Mexico, Nicaragua and Colombia, focusing on the impact of US policies and corporate practices on the poor majorities of Latin America and the Caribbean.
WorldTeach, Inc.: 10-12 month teaching opportunities in Chile, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guyana, Marshall Islands, Namibia, and Pohnpei.

Domestic

Americorps: 10-12 month service with national and community nonprofit organizations in tareas such as education, environment, public safety & homeland security.
VISTA/New York Campus Compact: one-year positions are indirect serive, meaning that volunteers are charged with creating &/or enhancing programs and building capacity, rather than performing direct service in the community.
Jesuit Volunteer Corps: 12-month program supporting service agencies and schools in meeting basic needs of food, housing and education.
Jewish Coalition for Service: Various volunteer programs and fellowships throughout the US and Canada lasting between 3 and 12 months.
Network: A National Catholic Social Justice Lobby: 11-month legislative advocacy experience in Washington, DC.
Notre Dame Mission Volunteers Americorps: 12-month program serving in community centers and schools in 15 U.S. cities.
Student Conservation Association 3-12 month environmental internships in all 50 states, in more than 50 professional fields with various federal, state and local agencies.
