INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION 2008

Unless you will participate in Adirondack Adventure or USE, plan to arrive on August 19 or 20.  Notify us of your travel plans in advance and we will arrange transportation from the Syracuse airport or Utica train/bus depot.  You will be met on campus by a student host who will show you to your room, the dining hall, etc.

Wednesday, August 20

6:30 pm Welcome Dinner and a Movie, Catered welcome dinner for all who have arrived.  Meet your international student orientation leaders. The Glen House. 

Thursday, August 21

10:00 am Catered Breakfast, Christian Johnson Browsing Room

12:30 pm Picnic on the Green, Students will stroll down the hill and enjoy a box lunch on the village green. Meet at ELS.

2:00pm Tour of Clinton, Walk around town and get acquainted with Clinton.  Leave from Village green.

6:30pm Dinner in Commons Dining Hall with OLs.

8pm Dessert and Conversation with Returning Students, Meet the upperclassmen and get their tips for life on the Hill!  Cafe Opus I.

Friday, August 22

Students returning from AA and USE should feel free to join the International Student Orientation as soon as they arrive back on campus! Join the group for lunch or catch the shuttle to the mall!

9 am Breakfast in Commons Dining Hall with OLs.

10:30am Scavenger Hunt! Meet at the Bronze Map.

12pm Lunch in Commons Dining Hall with OLs. 

2pm Shopping Trip! Vans will transport you to areas shopping malls to get those things you need right away for your room!  Meet at ELS.  Vans will shuttle every 20 minutes or so until 5pm.

5:00 pm Return to Hamilton, last van leaves from shopping mall.

6:30pm Dinner in Commons Dining Hall.

8:00 pm Cookies and Charades, Join the fun with new and returning international students.  Azel Backus House.

Saturday, August 23

All new students arrive for the general orientation program. Beginning at 1:30 pm, you should follow the Hamilton New Student Orientation Schedule.

1:30 pm President's Welcome (join regular orientation group) Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

At this point, students will follow the general orientation schedule, but don't forget our one remaining international student event!

IFP PICNIC! FRIDAY, AUGUST 29

6:00 PM. International Friendship Program cookout. Students will meet their IFP hosts and enjoy a traditional American cookout. All international students – both those with and those without IFP hosts – are welcome. (Pavillion)
