E-mail Filters and Folders, Oh My! Is your inbox overflowing with mass e-mails and Spam? Have you ever missed an important message? Find out how to create filters to manage your e-mail and to change your listserv settings to lessen the chaos.
Finally, do you know where your attachments are? E-mail attachments are as common as the cold weather we are having, but sometimes attachments get lost in the shuffle. Find out where the attachments reside and how best to store them for future use.
Archiving Your E-mail Are you frequently exceeding your e-mail quota? Using Eudora, it is possible to archive important e-mails, keeping you well under your quota. This session will explore best practices in managing your overflowing inbox.
Hold That Date! Do you find it time consuming to schedule meetings? Are you making multiple phone calls and sending multiple e-mails to schedule one meeting? In this session you will learn how to share your Calendar Express calendar in order to facilitate scheduling meetings or just to inform people where you are. Quickly find out when a group of 10 people can make it to the same meeting at the same time and then use the calendar to invite them all!
You can share as little or as much information about your calendar as you want. If you don't want people to know you have to be off campus in order to take Fluffy to the vet, they won't! They will only know you are busy and unavailable for a meeting.
Summer 2006 New Web Mail and Calendar Learn how to use all of the features of the new Web E-mail and Calendar software. Web mail, calendar and address book are presented in a single web page using tabs to access each function. The address book is now shared between the web mail and calendar applications. Mail and calendar user settings are now accessed through this new single interface (e.g. mail filters, vacation message, message forwarding, password change, calendar settings, etc.).

FileMaker Layouts The workshop will cover the create of more complex layouts. We will build layouts incorporating features and concepts which enhance the usability and effectiveness of your databases. Topics will include the use of effective field arrangement, field formats, value lists, headers and footers, page layout, use of color and shading, use of images, field tab orders and use of merge fields.
Participants in this class should be familiar with the basics of FileMaker Pro and have basic comfort creating reports using standard and columnar layouts.
FileMaker Scripts & Buttons Scripts and Buttons help you automate multiple step processes when working with your database. If you have ever heard the term macro, a script works the same way. A script captures a series of steps and a button is a one click way to access the script. Scripts can be as simple (single step process - print a report) or as complicated (select layout, find and sort records, print letters and envelopes, and send an e-mail) as needed.
Participants in this class should be familiar with the basics of FileMaker Pro.
Introduction to Database Design Do you think you want to use a database to track information, but you are not sure how to set it up? Did you inherit a database that doesn't quite work the way you want it to? This class will cover the design principles you should follow when creating or editing a database. You will also learn to determine when a database is the appropriate solution versus using another program, e.g. Microsoft Excel.
Relational Databases Is your FileMaker Pro database growing by leaps and bounds? Is it becoming increasingly difficult to manage the data? Do you have multiple databases that contain the same information? In this session you will learn to streamline your databases to cut down on duplicate information. Learn how to make one database "talk" to another database.

Updating Your FileMaker Pro Database with Datatel Data Are you entering data in two places - your FileMaker Pro database and in Colleague/Benefactor? When putting together a report, are you putting your FileMaker report together with your Colleague/Benefactor report? Did you know that you can refresh your FileMaker Pro database with data from Colleague/Benefactor without fearing the loss of data and you don't have to start from scratch?

Excel 101 Are you new to spreadsheets? Are you wondering if you should be using a spreadsheet or a database? During this session, you will learn how to appropriately setup a spreadsheet to meet your needs, learn the terminology associated with spreadsheets, enter data and perform some basic calculations.
Excel Pivot Tables According to Microsoft, a Pivot Table report is "an interactive, crosstabulated Excel report that summarizes and analyzes data, such as database records, from various sources including ones external to Excel." What exactly does this mean you ask? In many situations, the spreadsheets we maintain contain vast amounts of information making it difficult to confidently draw conclusions and make decisions based on the data. That is unless the data can be summarized and relationships found within the data that make the data more meaningful.

The Mystery of Formulas - Solved! Yes, 2+2=4, but when you have a long list of numbers, is it realistic to have a formula like this: 7+9+4+16+32+19+30+2+46+150+87+45? In this session, you will learn all about formulas and functions (predefined formulas). Does your data change, don't fret; when you use a formula, the calculated field is automatically updated.
Time Saving Macros Do you receive Excel spreadsheets from other offices on a regular basis and spend countless hours formatting it over and over again to meet your needs? A macro enables you capture your multiple step processes into one keystroke or menu option. Therefore instead of deleting columns and rows, changing the column width, sorting, and subtotaling your spreadsheet in 10 easy steps, you can do it in one!

Creating Brochures & Newsletters with Word Looking to create a little brochure to pass out to your colleagues? Using Microsoft Word, you will learn some basic layout tips to create an eye-catching brochure or newsletter.
The Basics of Scanning and Photoshop Digital images are used everywhere these days--on web pages, sent via e-mail, and printed, preserving precious memories forever! In this class you will learn how to appropriately scan pictures and then do some basic editing within Photoshop in order to share your images in the most appropriate format. Learn why resolution is important, how to resize and crop your images as well as some basic image manipulation techniques in Photoshop.
Advanced Photoshop During this session, topics such as layers, optimizing images (sharpening and color correction), adding text, and basic selection tools will be covered. Basic editing skills using Photoshop required.
Video Basics Participants will learn how to capture and edit video, work with audio and add effects, transitions, and titles to video using iMovie. iMovie is an easy to use, entry level video editing software. You won't be Steven Spielberg by the end of the class, but you will have a better appreciation for what he does to create his movies. Video will be provided for participants. Note: iMovie is part of iLife, a suite available on any newer Macintosh computer.
Visual Communication and Design for PowerPoint Presentations Are you looking to make your next PowerPoint presentation visually more appealing to your audience? This session will review the basic design principles you should follow when creating a presentation. What colors look good together? What colors should you stay away from? Appropriate text styles, graphs, and images will also be discussed.
OSX for the OS9 User Are you new to OSX and wondering why Apple changed a good thing? Wondering what happened to your Apple menu? Where is the Chooser? What is a Dock? Most important of all, where are the documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) you create??!!! If you have figured some of these things out on your own, but are still confused, this class is for you.
Windows XP for the Former Mac User Once upon a time, you knew where everything was located. On your Mac, you could type, save, and retrieve a file with your eyes closed! A former Mac user can find the Windows XP environment an unfriendly neighborhood. Don't get discouraged! Come to this class to get the Windows XP roadmap. SiteManager SiteManager is the College's Web Content Management System. This class will highlight the variety of features available to offices using SiteManager to keep their Web pages up-to-date. Among the features covered are editing tools, link manager, image manager, PDF creation, left and right column functionality, and security and reminder settings.
SiteManager Tables This class will explore the use of SiteManager's Table feature. If you are used to using tables in Microsoft Word, SiteManager's tables definitely work differently.
SiteManager Images Now that SiteManager provides a very robust image management system, this class will cover everything you need to know about adding an image to your Web site, including resolution and size.
SiteManager Refresher This class is for people who previously attended the full SiteManager course, but need a refresher on some of the functionality, including formatting text, incorporating text from a Word document into a Web page, and working with images.
