Guidelines for Use of Student Web Space

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Official policy on student personal and organization Web sites as of July 1, 2005

Effective July 2005, ITS (Web Services) provides 200MB of Web space for student organizations and individual students that wish to host a Web site. The provided Web space is capable of serving basic Web content and information in HTML files.

Individuals or organizations that wish to create dynamic or database-driven Web applications should seek an outside hosting provider. The URLs for student Web spaces begin with http://students.hamilton.edu. Custom Web addresses (e.g., www.myorganization.com) are allowed but must be set up and hosted through an outside service.

NOTE: Dynamic or database-driven sites and custom Web URLs that existed prior to July 2005 will not be removed from the servers.

  • Your Web space should be used only to develop a personal Web site. Files not used for this purpose should be saved in your Student Storage Server space.
  • All personal Web pages and shared files should adhere to the ITS department guidelines for responsible use. Web pages and other documents that are in violation of the published guidelines are subject to immediate removal.
