Emergency Response Procedures
The College's emergency response guide, known as the Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP), contains a blueprint as to how we protect our students and employees during an emergency. One of the most critical elements of this plan is how we will account for the members of our community during potential building evacuations.
The accounting strategy devised by the College relies on three principal methods:
1. In academic and administrative buildings (non-dormitory facilities), Building Coordinators have been selected to assist in the communication of the evacuation procedures, and to perform a headcount of College employees normally assigned to that building during an actual evacuation.
2. In dormitory facilities, Resident Advisors (RA's) are similarly responsible for the communication of the evacuation procedures, and to perform a headcount of their student advisees during an actual building evacuation.
3. In academic buildings with on-going classes, or work-study/research activities under faculty/administrator/staff supervision, those faculty/administrator/staff members are similarly responsible for the communication of the evacuation procedures, and to perform a headcount of their students/student workers during an actual building evacuation.
Each building on campus, academic, administrative and dormitory, has an initial gathering point, which is a location near the building where building occupants should gather immediately following an evacuation signal (fire alarm) to await further instructions. These initial gathering points have been selected by Building Coordinators for academic and administrative buildings and RA's for dormitory facilities. Please contact your designated Building Coordinators or RA if you have not been advised of your building's initial gathering point. In the event of a real emergency, individuals will be instructed to proceed to the designated primary or secondary Assembly Points
