Study Abroad/Proxy Information

What You Need to Know About Housing Before/While on Leave

1. Designate a PROXY. You do this by downloading the Study Abroad Proxy Form in the left column or by filling out a Pink Proxy Form (available at Residential Life or the Dean of Students Office).

This form states clearly what your desired preferences are (but it doesn't guarantee you'll get them) regarding your housing when you return. This includes side of campus, size of room, residence hall, smoke-free, possible roommates, etc. It's very similar to your first year or transfer housing preference form.

2. You can designate Residential Life as your official proxy, but you need to inform us that we are your proxy and fill out the proxy form.

3. If you choose not to fill out a proxy form, WE SKIP YOU IN THE LOTTERY PROCESS which means you will be placed in a room at the end of the lottery and will not get a say as to where you will be living when you return to Hamilton.

4. All of the above applies to rising seniors or seniors who want to be involved in the Off-Campus Lottery but are on leave.

5. Meal Plans - All returning juniors and seniors are placed on the 14 meal plan unless they contact Residential Life and say otherwise - these requests MUST BE MADE IN WRITING (ie: e-mail).

6. Even if you have made your preferences clear, you should communicate regularly with whomever you designate as your proxy. Tell them to pick up your lottery ticket, wake them up for the lottery, remind them of your preferences, etc. THE ROOM YOUR PROXY PICKS FOR YOU IS FINAL!!
