Baccalaureate Service

Families are encouraged to attend this nondenominational celebration, which includes remarks by a noted speaker, student readings from a variety of religious texts, and a performance by the College Choir. Senior who choose to participate will process in academic regalia (Chaplaincy: 315-859-4130).

Campus Facilities Use

Use of campus facilities during Commencement weekend is restricted to College-sponsored events. For venues for private parties refer to attractions or restaurants.

Caps and Gowns (Academic Regalia)

In 2010 Hamilton graduates will be wearing comfortable "green ragalia" which is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. Each gown is made from approximately 23 plastic bottles -- bottles that would have otherwise been doomed to the land fill. Seniors will place orders for academic regalia (caps, gowns and hoods) through the bookstore during "Grad-Fair Days" on March 3 and 4. The cost is included in the Commencement Fee. Phone orders will be accepted for students not on campus. Regalia will be available for pick-up during senior week (College Store: 315-859-4242, hambooks@hamilton.edu).

Ceremony Seating

The Margaret Bundy Scott Field House has a seating capacity of 5,000 or approximately nine guests per graduating senior. Tickets will not be issued. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and all guests are encouraged to arrive on campus no later than 9:15 a.m. to find parking and seating. Please note that ushers will not allow "early-birds" to save blocks of seats.

Class Rings

Balfour will be at the College Store to take orders for class rings during "Grad-Fair Days" on March 3 and 4 and Commencement Weekend. Prices vary (College Store: 315-859-4242, Balfour).

Commencement Fee

A Commencement fee of $100 is added to the January bills for members of the senior class. This fee covers the cost of each graduate's cap and gown, the picnic buffet for graduates and their guests on Commencement day and incidental expenses related to the weekend.

Diploma Frames

Diploma frames from Framing Success will be available at the College Store (College Store: 315-859-4242, hambooks@hamilton.edu).

DVD Recordings

A 2-DVD set of the Baccalaureate and the Commencement ceremonies will be available for $20 and should be ordered in advance by filling out the order card and returning it with your payment. Before reproduction, the recording is carefully edited to ensure a quality product. DVDs are reproduced in the "Region Zero" format which can be played on most DVD players worldwide.
