You may choose to participate in one of two pre-orientation programs, Adirondack Adventure or Outreach Adventure. These programs begin Friday, August 17, 2011. Students coming from overseas who choose to participate in Adirondack Adventure or Outreach Adventure should arrive Wednesday, August 15 or Thursday, August 16. We can arrange transportation from Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, NY or the Utica, NY train/bus station on these days for students arriving for AA or OA. Please submit the travel information form.
Please note that international students are guaranteed space in these programs as well as financial aid; these programs are highly recommended!
Students who participate in AA and OA are welcome to join International Student Orientation upon arrival back to campus on Friday, August 19.
Students who will not do Adirondack Adventure or Outreach Adventure should arrive in time to participate in the International Student Orientation, which begins on the evening of Thursday, August 23, two days before the general new student orientation. You should arrive on Wednesday, August 21, or during the day on Thursday, August 22.
International student arrivals for orientation are limited to the above dates. Transportation from Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, NY and the Amtrak Train/Greyhound Bus Station in Utica, NY to the Hamilton College campus, will be available on these dates only. If you arrive on an earlier day, we cannot guarantee that your dorm room will be ready, nor can we provide transportation to the College.
If you will be driving to campus with your family or friends, please plan to arrive between 8:30am and 4:30pm. The Dean of Students Office is open during these hours and we will be able to provide you with your key. Many international flights arrive late at night. If you are flying alone and we are providing pick up service for you, we will let you know what options are available for getting your key after hours, if necessary.
If you plan to arrive prior to these dates, you and your family will wish to stay at a hotel near the college until your room on campus is ready. Please feel free to check the Admissions Office's list or area accommodations.
When your travel plans are set, please notify the Dean of Students Office of your flight number and arrival time for Syracuse, or your anticipated train or bus arrival time in Utica. We want to have the opportunity to meet you at the airport, bus/train station and bring you to campus. Please notify us of your travel plans by July 15at the very latest, using the Travel Information Form.
