Update: Suspected Case of H1N1 Virus Negative
September 18, 2009
We received word this morning that the culture taken from the student who exhibited flu-like symptoms earlier this week is negative. The student returned to his residence hall room last evening after he had been fever-free for more than 24 hours without medication.
As of now, no other students have visited the Health Center with flu-like symptoms. However, due to the nature of this virus, we expect additional cases and are planning accordingly. You can reduce your chances of contracting the virus by following the protocols outlined by the CDC at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/.
We appreciate that so many students participated in Wednesday's flu-shot clinic. Additional vaccines for seasonal flu are on order and another flu-shot clinic will be scheduled as soon as they arrive.
As we continue to monitor this and possible future illnesses, subsequent updates will be posted on the College's Web site at:
