Hill Card Discover® DEBIT Card

The Hill Card is not only the college ID, but it can also serve as a Discover® debit card if students choose to activate this option.  Once activated, it allows students to receive Business Office disbursements or Direct Deposit of their student payroll to their Discover® debit account.  Students and their family can also make deposits to the Discover® debit account.

Activating the HILL CARD Discover® Card

If students want to use the Money Network® enabled Discover® debit card feature, they should follow the steps below.

  1. Call 1-800-822-4283 to activate the service and select a PIN.  Be sure to use the 16-digit bank card number shown on the front of the card to activate.
  2. If students plan to request DIRECT DEPOSIT of their student payroll check to the Discover® debit account or want to make deposits to the card, they must upgrade the account (no fee).  Students should call 1-800-822-4283 and speak with a customer service representative to upgrade the account.  The customer service representative will request the Social Security Number and address as part of the upgrade process.  Or, students can log on to www.moneynetworkedu.com to upgrade their Discover® account.  The upgrade process can take up to 24 hours to process.  Once your account has successfully upgraded, you will see an option for Direct Deposit listed in the "Money In" box when you log into your account at www.moneynetworkedu.com.
  3. Beginning in April (date to be announced), Money Network will implement several enhancements tot he Money Network service.  All cardholders who have activated or want to activate the Discover® card feature will be required to set up a unique User ID, password and security questions (for ID/password recover purposes).  This will allow cardholders to log into the Money Network website using their ID and password rather than the 16-digit Discover® card number.
  4. If students wish to receive Business Office refunds to the Discover® debit account, they must opt in at http://my.hamilton.edu/hillcard/blackboard-pay.
what are the advantages of the HILL CARD discover® debit card?
  • It is NOT a credit card.  It is a pre-paid debit card.
  • Use it anywhere Discover® cards are accepted.
  • Get free withdrawals at any Allpoint® ATM or participating ATM's on campus (Bristol Center and Beinecke Student Activities Village).
  • The Welcome Kit cardholders receive with their card comes with checks than can be cashed free at any Walmart location (once the cardholder has activated the Discover® account and deposited funds to the account).
  • Funds can be deposited to a student's Discover® debit card account by the College Business Office (refunds, financial aid, payroll direct deposit).
  • Parents or students can deposit funds to the Discover® debit card account through an Electronic Fund Transfer from a checking account (no fee for this method).  Or, funds can be deposited to the Discover ® debit card account utilizing a participating cash reload merchant (merchant fees apply).  It is also possible to set up recurring Electronic Fund Transfers to the Discover® debit card account.
