Alexandra Stevens '95 went from the Hamilton commencement line straight to the ranks of alumni volunteer. She began by interviewing prospective students and representing Hamilton at college fairs. For the past five years, she and Bruce Gaylord '70 have co-chaired the regional alumni association in Fairfield County, Conn., where they coordinate events ranging from Alumni Colleges to tailgate parties to welcome receptions for new students and recent alumni.
"At first I volunteered as a way to network with alumni in my area. But the more I got involved, the more I really enjoyed planning events, learning what various people are up to, and connecting with parents and current students to keep up-to-date on what's happening on campus.
"I had a great Hamilton experience. Volunteering gives me the chance to show my loyalty to the school that gave me so much. I feel a strong affinity to the College, and staying involved gives me the chance to help promote the Hamilton name."
After practicing law for 10 years, Alexandra Stevens is now pursuing her Master's of Library Science and teaching certification. She lives in Connecticut with her husband Jeffrey and sons Benjamin, 4, and Ethan, 2. In addition to co-coordinating the Fairfield County group, she serves on the Executive Committee of the Alumni Council and chairs the Regional Affairs Committee.
