Hello, My Name Is

October 1, 2008   Hi Readers!
Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Katherine Northway, but I prefer Kate. I grew up in three different locations: New York City; Easton, Pennsylvania; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!). I graduated in 2007 with high honors from Mt. Lebanon High School, just outside the city of Pittsburgh.

I came into Hamilton pursuing a degree in World Politics. I wanted to be the next Kofi Anan. Things can change though... As I start my sophomore year, I plan on majoring in Communications with a minor in Women's Studies.

On campus, I am a member of the orchestra as principal oboist and love playing intramurals. My love for intramurals does not equate winning, though — my friends and I have never won a single game or match in football, beach volleyball or inner tube water polo. I joined Love 'n Spoonful, Hamilton's cooking club, a couple of weeks ago to be around people who love cooking as much as I do. Thai food night is coming up soon!! However, there is no activity I love more than my job working for the Hamilton football team (more on that in a later entry).

Back home in Pittsburgh, I am an athlete in the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boating. This past summer I went to Malaysia to participate in the Dragon Boat Club Crew World Championship. If you have no idea what dragon boating is, check out this link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_boat#Dragon_boat_racing_as_a_modern_sport

Right now I have to make my nightly run to Opus, our lovely coffee café, for a ginger peach tea. But if you feel like procrastinating on that paper you have to write, want to learn more about Hamilton, or just need a break from your busy life, just check my latest post!
