The Hamilton College Bonner Leaders Program works with the following community organizations:
Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School
A science and Applied Technology Magnet School located in the Cornhill section of Utica. Today, there are approximately 216 students at King, 58% are African American, 23% are Caucasian, 11% are Hispanic and 8% are of Asian ethnicity. The Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies (PBIS) permeates the environment at King School. The students are proud of their school, neighborhood, work, family and most of all, proud of themselves. The students at King are learning and excelling.
The Underground Café
The Underground Café is a student-run coffee shop, art space, and teen center, and involves youth ages 13-18 in activities that are relevant to their lives while broadening their horizons. The Underground Cafe also provides opportunities through the Advantage After School Program, including workshops on career exploration, team building, pregnancy prevention, drug and alcohol abuse and college preparation. In addition, the Accepted College Prep Program pairs teens with a college-age mentor to go through the steps of the college application process. Other opportunities for teens include the Couper Art Center, Outerground, Youth Impact Project (YIP), Global Youth Unite, and Youth Board.

The Cosmopolitan Center
The Center works with individuals to help them discover and develop their inherent potential, to develop a strong sense of self worth, and to recognize the satisfactions and rewards that accompany achievement. Recognizing that a strong family life is central to individual development. The Center fosters family activity and parental involvement in the support and recognition of individual achievement in intellectual, cultural and athletic activities.With the individual's ultimate fulfillment being active participation in the social, economic and political life of the community, the Center supports and promotes awareness of the opportunities and responsibilities of individual involvement, and helps the individual enter the mainstream of community life.
Thea Bowman House
Thea Bowman House opened its doors as the "After Three Bunch" for 20 children in October 1986. It became Agape House and was known by that name before changing to Thea Bowman in 1996. Although undergoing continual growth and expansion of services, the agency has remained focused on providing a safe, nurturing environment where children and families, culturally diverse and often economically disadvantaged, can achieve their full potential.
For the Good Inc.
For the Good, Inc. is a 501-3 (c) not for profit organization, home to the Mohawk Valley Contractors Guild, The Utica Phoenix news magazine, and the Study Buddy Club, which connects inner city teens with college-age mentors for acedemic tutoring. For the Good invites collaboration on various other youth empowerment and economic development projects.
Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees
The Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees promotes the well-being of culturally diverse individuals and families within the community by welcoming new neighbors, refugees and immigrants, and by providing individual and community-centered activities designed to create opportunity and facilitate understanding.
JCTOD Outreach
JCTOD Outreach programs provide mentorship, education, recreational activities, anti-violence campaigns and nutritious meals for children in the Corn Hill section of Utica. This is an inspiring place doing innovative work with children who are most at risk in Utica.
YWCA
The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. Their mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. They provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress
Municipal Housing Authority-Matt Apartments
The Housing Authority of the City of Utica, New York provides quality, affordable and safe housing to low income families and individuals through the effective and efficient administration of housing assistance programs.
Utica Safe Schools- Donovan Middle School
The Utica Safe Schools/Healthy Students Partnership, Inc. is a committed group of community education, law enforcement, substance abuse, and anti-violence professionals who want to make systemic changes in the way they help children and families lead healthy and productive lives in Utica, NY.
Family Treatment Court
The Oneida County Family Treatment Court began in 2005 for parents who were in Family Court on charges of neglecting their children, due to their own alcohol and/or substance abuse. Each Thursday FTC meets to hold client/participants accountable in a way that they haven't been before, and also holds agencies and services accountable for prompt, individualized, and accessible treatment.
The American Red Cross
In collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and more than 180 national societies, the American Red Cross works to locate loved ones who are missing due to war, natural disaster, or civil unrest and sends Red Cross messages between separated family members. The local branch of the Red Cross informs refugees of the services it has to offer, including finding refugees' lost or resettled family members.
