The Bonner Leaders Program

The Bonner Leaders Program is a program of the Bonner Foundation committed to "intentional opportunities for students to develop as thoughtful, engaged citizens of our national and global community." (www.bonner.org). Hamilton College is one of more than 65 college campuses nationwide with a Bonner Leaders Program uniquely designed with some common values and structures:

  • Civic engagement/community partnerships
  • Training and enrichment/leadership development for students
  • Advising and coaching for students in their individual development path
  • Emphasis on reflection and link to academic learning

A cornerstone of the Bonner Leaders Program is civic engagement as an investment in a long-term relationship with the community. Bonner Leaders strengthen participation in a civic life and a campus culture of community partnerships.

Bonner Leaders at Hamilton work 10 hours per week in a community agency for 4 semesters between their freshman and senior years, allowing for time in their junior year to go abroad. Our program, in its third year, benefits both students and community partners.  Click here to see how Hamilton College's Bonner Leaders Program impacted some graduates' lives.
