 Authorized Users: SciFinder Scholar is for use by Hamilton College students and faculty only, and not the general public.

SciFinder Scholar at Hamilton provides access to the full service which includes SSM, the SciFinder Substructure Module.
Off Campus Access: SciFinder Scholar is available from off campus only via the Citrix server.
Hours of Availability: SciFinder Scholar is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except for routine maintenance performed every Sat 10:00pm - Sun 1:00am and the 1st Saturday of the month from 5:00pm - Sun 1:00am.

Latest Software Version: SciFinder Scholar 2007
The SciFinder Scholar software is available:
- Information Commons - Burke Library (Windows)
- Citrix Server (Hamilton login and password required)
- Chemistry Lab - Science Center, Room 1066 (Mac & Windows) via the Citrix server
- from any computer on campus (including classroom lecterns) via the Citrix server
SciFinder Scholar software
Faculty and students may download the SciFinder Scholar client software to their personal or office computer, Mac or Windows, after accepting the terms of the SciFinder license agreement. A Hamilton network login and password are required to download the software.

Technical Requirements - SciFinder Scholar 2007
System Requirements (detailed specifications)
Windows
Note: Internet Explorer is the browser recommended for Windows users and supported by ITS.
- Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® 2000 (SP3 or higher), XP (SP1 or SP2), or Vista
- Memory: 256 MB RAM
- Available Hard Disk Space: 50 MB (not including pagefile memory); 90 MB for installation
- Web Browser: Microsoft® Internet Explorer (MSIE), version 5 or higher, Netscape®, version 7 or higher, or Mozilla FirefoxTM, version 1.0 or higher
- Plug-ins must be installed in the Netscape and Firefox plug-ins and components folders for some features in ChemPort, e.g., Reference Linking. The plug-ins are installed automatically during SciFinder installation.
- Java™ and JavaScript™ must be enabled for online Help and some features within ChemPort.
- ActiveX must be enabled in MSIE for ChemPort Reference Linking.
- Cookies must be accepted for some features in ChemPort.
Macintosh
Note: Firefox is the browser recommended for Mac users and supported by ITS.
- Computer: an Apple® Macintosh with an Intel x86 or Power PC G4 or G5 processor
- Operating System: Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4
- Available Hard Disk Space: 65 MB
- Web Browser: Safari® (OS X default) or a Mac OS X compatible version of Netscape, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE)
- Java™ and Javascript™ must be enabled
- Cookies must be accepted for some features in ChemPort
