Research and Instructional Support Librarian Glynis Asu, Director of Research and Instruction Services Lisa Forrest and Research Tutor Tanapat (Ice) Treyanurak ’17 discussed the LITS Peer Research Tutor program during a conference on “The Art of Librarianship.” The presentation highlighted the important role students can play in the development of information literacy skills among their peers. The conference, presented by the SUNY Librarians Association, was held in June at Purchase College.

Established in the fall of 2014, the tutor program provides peer-to-peer information literacy support reaching far beyond the walls of the library. Serving as “first-tier” support at the desk, Research Tutors also develop and deliver information literacy workshops, create new bridges between their fellow peers and liaison librarians, and serve as information literacy ambassadors across campus.
