A forthcoming article in the Sociology of Religion titled "The Unobtrusive Tactics of Religious Movements," by Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas,  is available through advance access.  The article discusses how religious movements build upon and through secular institutions to expand their influence.

Kucinskas shows how religious movements expand using a distinct repertoire of noncontentious tactics by gradually and cautiously working their way into mainstream institutions and cultures. Consensus-based tactics have not been given sufficient attention by movement scholars, who tend to study how marginalized populations strive for broader social change through protest and other contentious tactics.
