The Hamilton College women’s soccer team (5-2-0, 2-2 NESCAC) evened its NESCAC record with a 2-1 win against Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Wesleyan’s Jackson Field. The Continentals’ win keeps them undefeated all-time against Wesleyan with a 3-0-1 record.

Box score

Halle Becker '15 and Katja Dunlap ’18 scored second-half goals for Hamilton, which held the Cardinals scoreless until a goal with two seconds left in regulation.

Dunlap opened the scoring in the 56th minute with her first collegiate goal. She received a pass from Hannah Withiam ’16 and put a shot into the wide-open Cardinal net from 10 yards out.

Nine minutes later a missed tackle attempt led to a breakaway that Becker converted into her fourth goal of the year. She raised her season total to nine points, taking over the team lead.

Emily Dumont ’18 made five saves for Hamilton and nearly recorded her first career shutout but Wesleyan’s Ellie Dempsey ’18 scored her first goal of the year with just two seconds remaining. Dempsey corralled a deflection of a shot taken by Madeline Keane ’16 and put a shot in the net from point blank range.

The Continentals outshot the hosts 20-11. Rachel Hobert ’16 and Jessica Tollman ’15 split time in the Cardinal net, making four and three saves, respectively.

Hamilton returns home on Sunday, Sept. 28, to host SUNY Canton in a 2 p.m. non-league game at Love Field. The Cardinals play at NESCAC rival Colby next Saturday.
