Many Hamilton students and alumni talk about the value of the “Hamilton network” in helping them explore careers, find internships or jobs, or simply provide advice. For nine students interested in filmmaking that network came alive when Benjamin Eckstein ’01 conducted an intense two-day workshop on the Hill on April 20-21.

Jessica Gold Newman '01 has recently launched Dobbin Clothing with Catherine Doyle.

The company's name is inspired by the English word "dobbin," a workhorse, and Newman and Doyle would like their clothing to be the "workhorses of women's wardrobes." Their goal is to offer the types of clothing their friends and families have always wanted: a mix of classic and vintage silhouettes, manufactured in the United States and made of Italian fabric, and flattering for real bodies.

Emily Melhorn '01 has been selected as a 2012 artist-in-residence for the National Homestead Monument of America with the National Parks Service. Melhorn is one of five artists who have been offered the opportunity to live at the monument and let their work be inspired by the Homestead Story and the physical environment.

Hamilton College archaeologists were well-represented on the program of the 77th Annual Meeting of the Society for American Archaeology held April 18-22 in Memphis, Tenn. Several students, faculty members and alumni presented research with other Hamilton alumni in attendance.

David Prior '01 has won two awards for his essay "Civilization, Republic, Nation: Contested Keywords, Northern Republicans, and the Forgotten Reconstruction of Mormon Utah," published in the Civil War History, Sept. 2010.
