Student Assembly Minutes
September 7th, 2009
Call to Order: 9:08 p.m.
Ad Hoc Committee on Statement of Community Values
Student Assembly to take a more "macro" approach to responding to the recent incidents on campus and ultimately present a tangible response in the form of a Statement of Community Values
Formed an Ad Hoc Committee last semester that met once
i. Discussed the practicality of a Social Honor Code, freedom of speech was brought into question and viewed as a potential barrier to the implementation of such a code
iii. Instead, seeking to have a Statement of Community Values to accompany the Academic Honor Code for incoming freshmen
If another incident should happen in the future, we could point to this statement as something everyone agreed to upon entering the Hamilton Community
Next meeting of the Committee on a Statement of Community Values will be meeting, Wednesday. September 16th at 4pm. Location TBA. Email agoldste@hamilton.edu if you are interested in joining the committee to help draft the Statement.
