Student and Alumni Initiatives


Class of 2008 Environmental Endowment Fund
Money raised as part of the class Senior Gift Campaign will provide grants to better the Hamilton community through environmental work or green research. 


Hamilton's Environmental Action Group (HEAG)
A student-run group focusing on environmental awareness through campus cleanups, recycling and holding special programs with guest speakers, including Green Week. 


The Recycling Task Force
A student-run group that works closely with the Physical Plant and the student body to improve Hamilton's recycling program, and evaluate additional recycling strategies.

The group also promotes Hamilton's participation in the annual RecycleMania contest, which is organized and operated by college and university recycling program coordinators, and supported by the US EPA's WasteWise program. In 2005, Hamilton finished 12th in the national RecycleMania contest. 


Alumni Support

Robert Fryklund '80
Provided a $150,000 pledge for a new faculty position in environmental economics and a longitudinal survey to assess values and attitudes affecting sustainability.

Sustainability Scholars
Hamilton students participate in special classes that train them to give informative talks aimed at a high school audience.

Graduates for a Greener Hamilton
An alumni organization dedicated to environmental responsibility within the Hamilton College community. GGH promotes environmentally conscious education, facilities and culture with an emphasis on initiatives that minimize the College's environmental footprint.
