Hamilton College and its widely acclaimed Common Ground program have partnered with the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank, to foster the next generation of independent thinkers and engaged citizens through enhanced academic opportunities for students and faculty that encourage civil discourse.

Events

Congressional Conversations

Members of Congress from opposite parties will come together on campus for valuable discussions on collaborative problem solving.

Campus Freedom of Expression Event

BPC’s Campus Free Expression project will visit College Hill to host an event or events for students to discuss, debate, and explain campus policies and programs that foster a safe and welcoming environment for robust intellectual exchange.

Campus Democracy Event

An in-person event for students, hosted by BPC’s Democracy team, will emphasize the importance of ensuring that the United States’ democracy has transparent and fair processes, trustworthy and accountable institutions, and civic-minded and bipartisan leaders.

Internships

A select number of Hamilton students will be offered placements in full-time summer internships, and part-time fall and spring internships each academic semester. Interns will assist individual projects and departments in several capacities as they provide functional support, conduct research, and work directly with project analysts and staff.

Coming Soon! A new 12-week bipartisan Capitol Hill internship in which interns will split their time between the offices of a House/Senate Democrat and House/Senate Republican.

Faculty Seminars

Hamilton faculty will be invited to Washington, D.C., to initiate partnerships with BPC’s policy teams, learn how experts in D.C. may use their research in the future, and share best practices for communicating policy insights in a way that is timely, useful, and bipartisan.
