  • Susan Frey ’84, director of education, Thoreau Institute at the Walden Woods Project in Lincoln, Mass., will lead a "Walden Pond Trek" for The Boston Alumni Association at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. She will comment on the natural history of the Pond as well as the most famous denizen of Walden Woods, Henry David Thoreau. 

  • Nearly 3,000 memorial flags were displayed along Martin's Way in honor of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. In addition, the Hamilton community observed a moment of silence at noon and gathered at 4 pm outside the Dunham entrance of Commons for a ceremony in memory of the victims.

  • Daniel José Custódio '00 is team captain of SlamRichmond, Virginia's first team to compete in the PSI National Poetry competition. He led a five-member team to Austin, Texas to compete in the competition, which consists of 75 teams and 300 poets, for the second year in a row.  "Modern-Day Gladiator," a group piece written by Daniel, was featured during the semi-finals. SlamRichmond plans to send a team to the competition next year and hopes that the experience they have gained in the last two will serve them well.  According to Daniel, "We have all the ingredients to win the championship next year."  For more information on SlamRichmond or on Daniel's poetry, please visit www.myspace.com/slamrichmond or www.thepoetdaniel.com. 

  • Join alumni, faculty members, students and friends for Fallcoming '07 which will take place Thursday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 30. During Fallcoming we will celebrate our inaugural Multicultural Reunion as well as a full schedule with world-class jazz, panel discussions and athletic contests.

  • Despite the threat of rain and thunderstorms, the inaugural College Hill Golf Tournament got off to a great start. On Friday, August 3, the Great River Golf Club in Milford, CT played host to over 36 alumni, students and friends of the College, who together raised over $1,000 for the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary ’03 Scholarship.

  • The Nominations Committee of the Alumni Council invites recommendations for the 2008 Distinguished Service Award. Presented by the Council on behalf of the Alumni Association, the award recognizes an employee who has substantially contributed to Hamilton through distinguished job performance and through involvement in student, alumni, or other activities in the College community. At the time of selection, the recipient must be an active member of Hamilton's faculty, administration, staff, or maintenance and operations. 

  • Preston Hutchings ’78 and his Bermuda crew aboard the new NY42 Morgan’s Ghost finished first in the 30th anniversary Marion to Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race. Morgan’s Ghost is the first Bermuda boat to take line honors since Robert Mulderig’s Starr Trail did the trick in 2003.   

  • Unrestricted gifts to Hamilton College directly support students and move Hamilton forward while honoring its past. Our generosity repays gifts we received from those who came before us. Giving to Hamilton affirms a shared belief that education is key to securing a better future for our world and says to the vibrant and diverse student body that, "I give because I believe that one student, educated in the Hamilton tradition, can positively affect the lives of thousands." Please give to the Annual Fund.   • Ronald Pressman, a 1980 graduate of Hamilton, has been appointed president and CEO of GE Real Estate, a leading global resource for commercial real estate capital. According to a press release from the company, "A 27-year GE veteran, Pressman was most recently president and CEO of GE Asset Management, a global investment business with approximately $197 billion in assets under management. Pressman held a variety of key financial roles early in his GE career and over the past 15 years, he has been CEO of a number of global GE businesses, including GE's Central and Eastern European operations, Power Systems (Europe), Real Estate, Employers Reinsurance, and Insurance Solutions. Pressman began his GE career in 1980 after graduating from Hamilton College." A biology major at Hamiton, Pressman served on the College's Board of Trustees from 1995 to 1999.

  • One of the many highlights of Reunions 2007 was the dedication of Siuda House, the new home of Hamilton's admissions office. The former Sigma Phi fraternity house was dedicated in honor of Joy and Chet ’70 Siuda on June 1.
