  • More than 100 first-year students participated in “Know Thyself,” a new Career and Life Outcomes Center (CLOC) –sponsored event on Feb. 3. Know Thyself was the inaugural event of the Find Your Future Series for First-Years, developed specifically for first-year students to engage in conversations and activities about themselves — what makes them happy, what they're good at and what matters to them. 

  • Just days after arriving on campus after the winter break, members of Hamilton Microfinance (HMF) met with Tom Owens, CEO and president of ACCESS Federal Credit Union, to evaluate the club’s first loan application of 2016. After reviewing the application, the group voted unanimously to provide a $2,500 loan to Rudy (for Rudy's privacy, the club is not disclosing his last name), who plans to use the funds to buy machinery for his farm.

  • Very few study abroad experiences offer a chance to be truly independent. While some may allow their students to pursue directed research projects, they are often within bounds predetermined by the program. However, during the first semester of Hamilton’s Adirondack Program during the fall of 2015, students not only had a chance to be independent in their academic pursuits, but they were also able to explore areas of interest outside of their comfort zone by way of internships.

  • Seven Hamilton students have been selected to attend the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) that will take place in April 1-3 at the University of California, Berkeley. Aleksandra Bogoevska ’17, Andy Chen ’16, Leonard Kilekwang ’16, Alexandru Hirsu ’17, Emily Moschowits ’16, Sharif Shrestha ’17 and Tsion Tesfaye ’16 will attend. Shrestha and Tesfaye were among four Hamilton students who participated in last year’s CGI U in Miami.

  • Initiated following her junior year, Leigh Gialanella’s Emerson Grant-funded summer project resulted in more than the usual final paper and presentation. Under the continuing guidance of Special Collections and Archives Director and Curator Christian Goodwillie, Gialanella ’15 has created an interactive website featuring the Oneida Community’s library, received the Communal Studies Association's Starting Scholar Award for her senior thesis, and begun a master’s degree at the University of Michigan in a tailored track that will lead to a career in digital libraries, digital archives, and/or digital asset management.

Pure Pulp will be open until April 20. Both shows will travel to other venues.
