The grand reopening of Burke Library’s first floor, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Fallcoming Jazz, and poster sessions of students’ science and Levitt Center summer research were among the highlights of a Fallcoming Weekend that brought nearly 1,000 family members and alumni, along with rain and chilly weather, to the Hill, Oct. 5-8.

Hamilton alumni, parents, and friends were welcomed on College Hill by an autumn chill and plenty of sunshine for Fallcoming/Family Weekend, Sept. 23 to 25.

Mother Nature was a gracious hostess as warm temperatures and sunny skies greeted more than 2,000 alumni and family members who attended an in-person Fallcoming Weekend, Oct. 8-10.

Recognition of Andy Burns ’78 as the Jeff Little ’71 Volunteer of the Year, President David Wippman’s State of the College address, and students showcasing their talents in everything from science research to choir and orchestra performances made for a busy Fall Weekend at Hamilton.

Despite an angry Mother Nature who did all she could to disrupt outdoor plans, Hamilton’s annual Fallcoming/Family Weekend was a lively and event-packed success. Among highlights were dedication of The Joel and Beth Johnson Health and Wellness Center, a Common Ground discussion between Mike Dubke ’92 and Marc Elias ’92 about the mid-term elections, and Penny Watras Dana’s honor as Volunteer of the Year.

Two Hamilton alumni — both highly regarded Washington insiders — will offer their perspectives on bridging the country’s current deep political divide facing the United States and the upcoming midterm elections, among other topics, during a live Q&A on Hamilton’s campus next Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m.

Mother Nature did her part to ensure a glorious, sunny, and mild Fallcoming/Family Weekend on the Hill. The Hamilton community honored Life Trustee Joseph F. Anderson ’44 on Saturday, and the Tietje Family Tennis Center and Falmouth Road Race Reunion Courts were dedicated during the combined Fall Weekend.

The Departments of Music and Dance and Movement Studies will offer a full schedule of free performances in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center, during the College’s Combined Family Weekend/Fallcoming Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21.

A memorial service in honor of Life Trustee Joseph F. Anderson ’44, and dedication of the Tietje Family Tennis Center and Falmouth Road Race Reunion Courts are among highlights of the combined Fallcoming/Family Weekend, taking place Oct. 19 through 22.

Hamilton was hopping on Oct. 6 through 9 as the College community not only celebrated the inauguration of David Wippman, but also welcomed families, alumni and guests to the Hill for a combined Family and Fallcoming Weekend. Events began on Thursday with preview of PBS documentary Hamilton’s America, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Hamilton musical. Friday’s highlights included The Helen and Doane Comstock ’27 Memorial Luncheon that celebrated student scholarship and enabled students to meet the donors who make their scholarships possible. Poster sessions enabled students to show the results of their summer research in the sciences, public policy and humanities. Alex talks proved to be a popular new event, with six faculty members delving into their areas of expertise. Barbara Starnes P'80, GP '11 was honored as the Jeff Little ’71 Volunteer of the Year at a Saturday breakfast, then an estimated crowd of 1,500 attended President Wippman’s inauguration in the field house, followed by an all-campus picnic. A number of athletic contests took place on Saturday. At the football game, Patty Dunn Lewis was presented with a framed team photo and framed jersey by Coach Paul Adey to honor her late husband Adam Lewis '87. Adam was killed during the 9/11World Trade Center attack in 2001. The always-popular Fallcoming Jazz concert and a capella group performances highlighted weekend entertainment.
