  • Hamilton has closed the books on another successful fundraising year, breaking several records in the process. Total contributions surpassed $25 million for the fifth time in the college's history. The Annual Fund reached a new height with more than $6.81 million in gifts, up from $6.6 million last year, and the total number of donors to the college, 11,089, was the highest in Hamilton's history.

  • The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded Hamilton College $250,000 to support the development and production of online offerings through edX.

  • More than 150 members of the local police, county sheriff, fire department, medical personnel, the NY State Police Emergency Response Team and the Hamilton campus community participated in an intense, full-scale, realistic drill meant to test teamwork and response times on Wednesday, June 18.

  • Dozens of economists, psychologists and other wellbeing and happiness scholars hit the Hill this week as Hamilton College hosted the second annual International Wellbeing and Public Policy Conference, sponsored by the International Journal of Wellbeing. The conference, from June 10-12, drew many of the world’s leading experts on happiness and wellbeing studies, including Hamilton alumnus  Arthur Stone ’74, Ph.D., who delivered one of the keynote speeches.

  • The Hamilton College men’s and women’s basketball teams recently donated more than $5,000 to Hoops 4 Hope, a non-profit charity that uses basketball to benefit children in Zimbabwe.

  • Although the school year has ended, the campus is still bustling with activity. In particular, it’s hard to miss the some 120 people working on the new Kevin and Karen Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts, which will be opening its doors this fall. The building is in its final stages of construction, representing over 13 years of planning and millions of dollars in donations and serving as a beacon for the arts on the Hill. The Kennedy Center, positioned directly  across College Hill Road from the Wellin Art Museum, will offer students and faculty incredible spaces in which to create, teach and  perform.

  • Long-time Hamilton College philosophy professor and former head men's golf coach Bob Simon and his wife Joy received honorary Hamilton athletic department watches at the 2014 Jack B. Riffle Dinner for Senior Varsity Athletes. The awards were presented by Director of Athletics Jon Hind '80 to the Simons for their four decades of devotion to the College's intercollegiate programs.

  • Hamilton College’s highest awards for teaching were presented to four faculty members during the annual Class & Charter Day ceremony on May 12. Associate Professor of Russian Franklin Sciacca, Associate Professor of Music Rob Hopkins,  Assistant Professor of Chemistry Adam Van Wynsberghe and Nathan Goodale, assistant professor of anthropology, received awards. Professor of History Doug Ambrose was named recipient of Student Assembly’s Sidney Wertimer Award.
