As the fall 2025 semester came to a close, a number of Hamilton students kept busy presenting research at conferences and collaborating with faculty on professional papers that were published.

Assistant Professor of Psychology Kelly Faig recently published articles on loneliness in the journals Current Issues in Behavioral Sciences, Psychophysiology, and PLOS One.

Hamilton President Steven Tepper announced the promotion of three faculty members to the rank of professor, as approved by the College’s Board of Trustees at its June meeting. They include Abhishek Amar (Asian Studies), Tara McKee (Psychology), and Katheryn Doran (Philosophy), who will retire later this month as professor of philosophy emeritus.

Recent graduate Deanna Durben ’25 engaged in research across the domains of sociology and psychology during her time at Hamilton. In 2024, her efforts culminated with a publication in Sage journals titled “Understanding autistic camouflaging: The use of online community discussions and stigmatized identity research.”

Dean of Faculty Ngoni Munemo recognized nine faculty members with Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards in three categories — career achievement, early career achievement, and notable year — at the May 6 faculty meeting.

Yuxuan Xu ’26 has been named a recipient of the prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a national award that supports students intending to pursue research careers in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering. For Xu, the recognition wasn’t just a validation of his work — it was a meaningful milestone after years of dedicated effort and strong mentorship at Hamilton.
