Participating in COOP programming at Hamilton is a great way to learn more about yourself, educate your peers, and prepare for a civically engaged future. Participating in community outreach opportunities with the COOP provides the bonus of motivating others to serve, to make contributions to the community and to become lifelong engaged citizens.

Clinton Central School (CSS) Tutoring

We offer middle school and high school tutoring opportunities.

CORE Floor

CORE (Community Outreach Residential Experience) Floor weaves both on- and off-campus community engagement into your first year residential experience. You will live with a group of first-year students in an atmosphere where there will be opportunities for projects, discussion, and reflection around social justice, creating change, and issues in our local community. You will meet Hamilton faculty and local community partners, who can be resources for you as you settle into Hamilton’s lively culture of service and discover how to make an impact.

Hamilton Reads

Hamilton Reads is a local tutoring program that helps children in our community learn to read. Hamilton Reads sparks collaborations between educators, parents, librarians, college students, and community groups.

The Harvest

The Harvest is a food recovery initiative where students package the leftovers from Hamilton's dinning halls and that food is given to organizations in the greater Utica community.

HAVOC

Hamilton Association for Volunteering, Outreach, and Charity (HAVOC) is the largest student-led volunteering organization at Hamilton. We encourage students to get involved with the larger community outside Hamilton and create positive change. HAVOC volunteers build leadership skills, develop meaningful relationships, and most importantly, make a difference in people's lives every time they serve the community.

SAT Prep Tutoring

SAT Prep Tutoring expands access to college for low-income high school students. Using college volunteers as tutors, mentors and role models, tutors provide intensive SAT preparation and critical assistance with the college admissions process at no cost to students.

Sidekicks

Sidekicks is a mentoring program that pairs students from Hamilton College with children from Clinton Elementary School. Pairs meet for about an hour each week and coordinate meet-ups based on each person's availability.
