Description: Prerequisites: R and RStudio installation (instructions below) Mac: https://tinyurl.com/yahkufb4, Windows: https://tinyurl.com/yxbbxte4 “Intermediate R: tidyverse” OR at least two months of R tidyverse experience Optional: A twitter account (Sign up for one at twitter.com) Can R help to understand the plot structure of novels using sentiment analysis? How can we understand the relationship between words in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or Cervantes' Don Quixote? How can we gauge online public opinion via twitter? In this workshop, I will introduce text mining and analysis basics, such as word cloud, sentiment analysis, and topic modeling. At the end of the workshop, you will also be able to scrape your data from twitter and analyze it (twitter account required). No statistics background is required.
