Stata is a statistical package that enables students and faculty to manage, visualize, and analyze data. Join us for a workshop on how to get started with Stata for your fall courses! In this workshop, you will learn the Stata interface, various types of Stata files, and basic data manipulation/visualization skills. No prior Stata or statistics knowledge is required. Asynchronous Workshops: Asynchronous workshops are available as a Blackboard module named “LITS Training: Stata.” Contact Dr. Ahra Wu (axwu@hamilton.edu) if you would like to be added to the Blackboard Stata Module. Intermediate Stata: Statistical analyses (track 1) Prerequisites: Citrix installation and registration. Learn more about Citrix at https://www.hamilton.edu/offices/lits/rc/using-citrix. “Introduction to Stata: How to get started” or at least one month of Stata experience This workshop is designed for those who want a Stata refresher or plan to do research using Stata. In this workshop, you will learn how to conduct statistical analyses, such as basic hypothesis testing, linear regression, ANOVA, and probit/logistic regression. There are two sections in this module: Statistics Overview Hypothesis Testing Using Stata If you are comfortable with the fundamental statistics of hypothesis testing or have taken an intro-level research methods course (e.g., ECON 265/266, GOVT 230, PSYCH/NEURO 380, MATH 152, etc.), you can skip the first section. If not, review the "Statistics Overview" section first, and review the "Hypothesis Testing Using Stata" section. Intermediate Stata: Advanced data manipulation (track 2) Prerequisites: Citrix installation and registration. Learn more about Citrix at https://www.hamilton.edu/offices/lits/rc/using-citrix. “Introduction to Stata: How to get started” or at least one month of Stata experience This workshop is designed for those who want a Stata refresher or plan to do research using Stata. In this workshop, you will learn how to manage data sets, such as merging, transposing, and reshaping data sets, string manipulation, and macros (e.g., how to write a loop). No statistics background is required. |
