When do I back up?

As frequently as necessary to protect your data. This could be daily, weekly, or monthly. Yearly or never are not options. Answers to these questions will guide the frequency of backing up:

  • How often do you create or change your files?
  • How much information could you afford to lose in the event that your computer hard drive fails?
  • Is it possible for you to work directly from ESS or the Academic Server so that your files are backed up automatically on a daily basis?
