Research & Instructional Design

Research & Design Service Student Help

The Research & Instructional Design (R&ID) team provides research assistance to faculty and students, and facilitates the use of information and technology in the teaching and learning process.

What We Do

Course Support

The Research & Instructional Design team is available to provide specialized instruction on topics such as library research, poster design, digital media creation, survey tools, mapping tools, citation management, and more. Hamilton faculty are encouraged to bring their classes to Burke Library for instruction, or we can visit your classroom. Student groups are also welcome to submit requests. Contact Course Support or submit a request via our Library Instruction Request form .

Scholarship and Publishing

The Research & Instructional Design team's services extend beyond the classroom. We welcome the opportunity to discuss how we might be able to assist faculty and students in all of their scholarly pursuits.

Programs and Workshops

R&ID sponsors public programs and workshops with a focus on teaching, learning, and scholarship throughout the academic year.

Burkeshops are regularly-scheduled workshops on topics including 3D printing, digital media editing and design, website construction, Microsoft Excel, citing sources, and information literacy. Workshops are taught by professional Educational Technologists and Librarians and are designed to be informative, practical, and fun!

Blackboard Mondays - Every Monday in the Couper Classroom at 4:10 PM, from August 28 through December 14, 2017, come learn about a specific feature or tool in Blackboard for 20 minutes. The floor will then be open to any question about Blackboard for 30 minutes. We're done by 5:00 PM. Learn how to use Blackboard more effectively, one tool at a time. Bring your questions, too!

Ask Us Anything - The more things change... the more things will continue to change. Drop by the Couper Classroom September 26, October 31, and November 28, 2017 from 4:10 to 5:10 PM. Lynn and Kristin will answer your questions, showcase new electronic resources, and share some tips and tools that will help you with your research and teaching. Have questions that just can't wait? Submit your questions now, and we'll make sure to answer them at the open session, or respond personally if you aren’t able to join us.

For all programs and workshops offered by LITS, please see the LITS Calendar of Events, or check the campus events calendar.
