Computer Science
The goal of the Computer Science Department is to prepare students to adapt and excel in an ever-changing field by combining a strong foundation in mathematics, logic, and language with exposure to the latest innovations in technology.
The Senior Program
As seniors, computer science majors frame and conclude their study by participating in a senior seminar. During the senior seminar, students work in small teams on a software development project that assists faculty and staff across campus, often developing a web app or mobile app that supports faculty research or teaching.
Examples of recent computer science senior projects include:
- Irish Tune Composer Recognition
- Lighthouse Grant Management
- Math Policy Tracker
- Mapping Greater India
- Software for Visualizing, Analyzing, and Classifying Spectrum Data
- Digital Edition and Analysis of the Apocryphal Epistle to the Laodiceans
- Electron Spin Resonance Experiments
- Velocity-Based Training System for Hamilton Athletics
- Automation and Dashboard for Jupyter Server Management in Education
- Class Management System for Kirkland Art Center
- Software for Optimizing Pre-Health Course Planning
- Historical Parliamentary Proceedings and Acts of Parliament
