James Burton
Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics
James Burton attended the State University College at Potsdam in its B.A./M.A. Mathematics program, where he also completed his teaching certification requirements for K-12 elementary and mathematics. He taught high school mathematics for 34 years including 31 at his alma mater Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, where he also served as department chair, athletic director, and coached boy’s tennis, boy’s soccer, and boy’s and girls volleyball. Since retiring from public school education Burton has served as an adjunct at Cazenovia College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute of Technology, and Hamilton College, with calculus as his area of expertise.
