A graduate of Ithaca College, Ubaldo Valli is music director of the SUNY Cortland College-Community Orchestra and Director of the Pierstown Concert Series in Cooperstown, N.Y., and co-founded and/or directed several orchestras throughout New York State. He has guest conducted at Hamilton College and Ithaca College, for an interfaith service held with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama of Tibet, and collaborated with Dallas Cowboy offensive line coach Paul Alexander on a lecture/concert based on Alexander’s book Perform.  As a violinist, Valli has taught violin at Hamilton College since 2006, is a member of the Glimmerglass Festival Orchestra and has performed with Symphoria and the Albany Symphony, where he has played for many recordings, including a 2014 Grammy winner. He has a special interest in improvisational theater, studying with Keith Johnstone, Shawn Kinley, Rebecca Northan, and at Second City Chicago, and performed at the 2017 Oslo Impro Festival. In 2018, he presented a paper linking orchestral conducting with improv at the Oxford Conducting Institute Conducting Studies Conference, University of Oxford.
