Andrew Stocker earned a B.Sc. in mathematics at the University of San Francisco in 2015 and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2022. As an undergraduate, he also attended both Rochester Institute of Technology and the Harvard Extension School. Since finishing his Ph.D., he has taught at Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College. Stocker's research is in the mathematical study of chaotic dynamical systems, and how they can be understood using methods from the study of operator algebras and the field of symbolic dynamics. He is also interested in computer science and programming, and recently worked at an AI company creating mathematics datasets to train LLMs. Stocker co-founded an AI startup in 2024.
